Jean-François Miaule, son of a French diplomat, was born in West Africa where he lived for 18 years. By age five he already showed talent at painting and drawing, which was encouraged by his teachers and his father.
At age 18, Jean François moved to Paris where, after one year of prep school, he took the exam to be admitted to one of the five most renowned art schools in France. He received a Master’s in Fine Art from E.S.A.A. Duperré, Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués, Paris.
In 1991, while, being director in a Paris cultural center, the Espace Jemmapes, he won the Prize of the Young Talent of the Year organized by Paris City Hall.
During the six years he directed the Espace Jemmapes, Jean-François, in addition to putting together painting exhibitions of famous European artists, gave a few solo exhibitions of his own.
Since he has produced successful one man show and participated in group shows in California, Nevada, Paris, Antibes, Cannes (France), and Niamey (Niger) as well.
In 2010 Jean-François entered a contest organized by the Getty Museum to produce a painting illustrating a poem by Charles Baudelaire. He received third prize in this competition with his painting ‘Mortelle étreinte’ (Deadly Embrace) illustrating the poem ‘À une Madone’.
His work is a part of various collections owned by individuals and organizations throughout the world.
